The central characters of Poltergeist: The Legacy do not belong to me –

they are the property of Trilogy and MGM – I’ve only borrowed them

for a while.  All other characters are created by me.  Hope you enjoy …

Introduction

In all my years serving the Legacy, I had never – and I mean never – imagined that we would have been invaded as we have these past few days.  I would have preferred an all-out assault by the creatures of the Darkside than enduring what I have.  I am only pleased that we survived relatively unscathed, and with every secret intact.  It is no less than a miracle.  At times, we had to bend almost to snapping in two to do it but do it we did – and, yet again, I am amazed and humbled by the resourcefulness and the inestimable patience of the people in this house.

It was only at the end, in the early hours of yesterday when it was nearly all over, that we finally made our peace and came to understand each other.  But, in the days preceding that, it was like being under siege.

As noted in this journal, it all began last Thursday, when Andrew came to the study to inform me than an unexpected visitor was at the door.  Now that person is finally gone, I am at last free to go into more detail.

Andrew brought him to meet with me.

“Hi,” he said, extending a hand.  “I’m Bert Burko.”

“Mr Burko,” I responded, shaking his hand.

My sight offered no clues as to what was to happen next – a lamentable failing.

“I’m Dr Derek Rayne.  How can I assist you?”

In retrospect, I should not have asked that question.

“Dr Rayne,” he smiled, “I’m here to make you famous.”

          “Really.”

If I sounded bemused, it was probably because I was.

“Well .. not exactly famous, nor exactly you, but what you do here.  This is a really fabulous house, did I say that before?  Well, it is.  I need to get some pictures for our design team.  Can I sit down?  Thank you.”

I think it was around this point that I felt I was losing control of the situation …
